KAMADJAJA LOGISTICS HACKATHON DAY 2018 – THE MAIN EVENT

To celebrate our 50th birthday, Kamadjaja Logistics hosted 2 days of Hackathon event with the objective to create and explore solutions for key areas in customer experience, business processes and in exploring possibility of new business model in logistics sector. 171 participants joined in the beginning of selection process. However, only 50 participants who formed into 20 teams were selected to join the main event at Koridor Co-Working Space, Gedung Siola Lt. 3, Surabaya in November 10th – 11th 2018.

 

The first day of Hackathon was started with a panel discussion session in which Ivan Kamadajaja (Kamadjaja Logistic’s CEO), Amin Kiswardhono (COO), and Deden Anugrah (VP of ICT) shared their perspective about current challenges in logistics industry. Not only that, as experts in the logistics industry, Kamadjaja Logistics’s executives shared their experience and provide consultation for participants’ idea. Each of the registered team had the opportunity to discuss and consult the application of their idea in the logistics industry.

Not only the executives from Kamadjaja Logistics, leaders from technology startups also came to the event and share their experiences in managing and presenting their startup products. Hengky Sihombing (CTO of Urbanhire) shared his experience in developing startup products to the participants. Followedly mentor talk from Bukalapak’s product designers about a product UI/UX. Other startup leaders from Reblood, Riliv, Sirclo, Bizzy Indonesia, and Recap also came to give in-depth mentoring session for each team. The first day was closed with dinner and a good luck message for all participants who were going to start hacking their product before presenting it in the second day.

 

The second day was started with mentor presentation from Hadi Othman (CEO of Recap), about business model, and Leonika Sari (CEO of Reblood), about product pitching skill. Participants were also given time to finalize their product and presentation before presenting it to the judges. Each team were only given 5 minutes to present and demonstrate their products while also answering questions and comments from the judges for 3 minutes.

Creative and innovative ideas were presented during the day. However, only five teams can be the winner: Arcana from Bandung, Seawaygo from Pontianak, and Bettfu, Emcorp Studio, and Vivat Si from Surabaya. The winning teams were given the privilege to join Startup Nations Summit in 16 November 2018 at Grand City Surabaya. Startup Nations Summit is an international event held by Global Entrepreneurship Network, an international NGO. Startup Nations Summit 2018 will be hosting 170 delegations from countries around the world. Not only joining the event, the 5 winning team of Kamadjaja Logistics Hackathon Day will also present their product in Startup Nations Summit, and only the best 2 teams will be awarded with additional awarding in the Startup Nations Summit event.

 

To close the event, Ivan Kamadjaja stated that he is delighted with the positive anthusiasm from participants. He acknowledged that many of the participants did not have logistics background. However, their lack of logistics knowledge did not hinder them to create new interesting logistics solution by bringing fresh and out-of-the-box ideas to the logistics industry. He is optimistic that at least one idea could be applied and realized in the future. Meanwhile, we are all excited to see the winning team performance in Startup Nations Summit and make Indonesia proud in front of the international audience.
